| This DFG research project, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), examined the changing geographies, experiences, and outcomes related to international academic mobility to the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) by early career researchers and professors up to the age of 40 years from across the world. These visiting researchers had been awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and spent a research leave of about one year at German universities and research organisations. The project’s key findings have discussed the changing global geographies of home countries; identified profoundly gendered geographies but largely gender-equal outcomes of the research stays; and revealed considerable research outcomes, including subsequent incoming and outgoing international academic mobility between the home and host countries by students and researchers at different career stages: Jöns, H. 2015.
